Galley

A large stainless steel sink and two-burner induction cooktop make kitchen activities really simple, morning coffee and big dinners alike.

Water systems

On-demand hot water is really the tipping point from glamping to just living. If you’ve ever spent more than a week living with jerry cans or manual filtration, you can appreciate why this is a necessity for those that want to just be in nature without the hassle of camping.

Stainless Steel Sink

The 15 x 20 x 10” sink is great for filling water bottles, cleaning dishes and washing your hair in a Walmart parking lot.

Heated Shower

There is really not much better than having a hot shower waiting for you at the trailhead.

The Plumbing

Powered by a SEAFLO 5.5 gallons-per-minute DC water pump, the self-contained water system filters all water before feeding it to a Bosch 4-gallon water heater, the sink, and an outboard shower.

take a load off

Easily transitioning between night and day, the highly functional couch-bed-thing rides on three 500lb heavy-duty, locking sliders and maximizes the usable space in the van. It houses the electrical system and a sort of garage storage space for less frequently accessed items – we keep our tools and backpacking gear down there.

Couch Mode

Great for taking naps, hosting pizza parties, chauffeuring through-hikers to the laundromat, or – I guess – taking work meetings.

Bed Mode

Leaving a ton of space for activities during the day while in couch mode, the bed takes less than 60 seconds to set up.

Work Mode

Dual Lagun tables, mounted at either end of the couch, create distinct work areas for two people. And the large floor area afforded in this configuration makes it easy to get up and move about during the workday.

Sprung Ikea Bed Slats

These customized, collapsible bed slats deliver great comfort for side-sleepers and allow the memory foam mattress to breathe properly.

off-grid solar power

300 watts of solar feeding 300 amp-hours of lithium batteries… It’s enough electricity to charge all of the iPhones in Idaho. Not having to worry about power availability is so great – it just works all the time. From a safety standpoint, the entire system is grounded to the bare-metal body of the van. Further, every circuit is protected by conservatively rated fuses and is wired with at least one gauge over the required size for that circuit’s potential amperage.

Multiple Charge Sources

The ability to draw a strong charge from both the solar panels and the van’s alternator means that the battery bank’s state of charge very rarely goes below 60% with fairly heavy usage.

Components

  • Victron Lynx 1000 Distributor

  • 3x 100 amp-hour lithium batteries from Battle Born

  • 3x 100 watt Renogy solar panels

  • Renogy 3000 watt inverter

  • Victron 100|30 SmartSolar charge controller

  • Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC/DC charger

Features Developed from Experience

Having progressed from ground tenting, to 4Runner camping, to empty cargo van travel and now on to the current van configuration, years spent on the road taught us what’s needed to make the experience comfortable and what’s needed for the vehicle to hold up to life on the move.

Window Covers

Insulating, black-out window covers from Van Essential affix to the van with magnets and make the space totally private.

Aluminum Construction

The galley and cabinetry are solidly built with 80/20 extruded aluminum and securely bolted to the van body in multiple places. This ensures longevity of components, keeps the vehicle weight much lower, and is significantly safer for vehicle occupants.

Swivel & Heat

A Scopema seat swivel opens up the living space with the pull of a single lever & an Espar S2 D2L diesel heater easily maintains a comfortable interior temperature in even the coldest environments.

Airflow & Lighting

The Maxxair Deluxe fan offers 10 variable speeds and a remote control. And warm LED ceiling lights on a two-zone, fully dimmable circuit keep the space as bright as you like it.
